The National Picture Family day care is a nation-wide childcare service that operates in all States and Territories under various state-based regulations and national standards. The National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC) runs the Australian government’s national accreditation system for all childcare services including family day care. There are around 13,500 carers currently working in family day care and they are supported by around 2,000 staff from central co-ordination units. Each family day care scheme is operated by a local council, community-based organisation, charity or in one case a state government. |
