In-Home Child Care on the Coffs Coast

If your circumstances mean your child cannot attend mainstream childcare or family day care at one of our educators’ homes, you may be eligible for in-home care.

With in-home childcare, a qualified, registered educator comes to your house to provide flexible childcare services at your own home. The in-home care educator is monitored and fully supported so that we can ensure quality outcomes for your child or children.

Coffs Harbour Family Day Care has recently started offering in-home care (IHC) services to families on the Coffs Coast as part of the NSW In Home Child Care.

NSW In Home Child Care aims to support the growing number of parents who are trying to balance work and family commitment and who meet the eligibility criteria.

In-home care will complement our regular family daycare service and we hope that many families will be able to eventually transition to family day care.

Are you eligible for in-home childcare?

To access IHC you must satisfy the Eligibility Criteria

IHC places are targeted to families who:

• have no access to existing child care services; OR
• their circumstances mean that an existing child care service cannot meet their needs;

AND at least one of the following criteria also applies:

• the child has, or lives with another child who has, an illness or a disability;
• the child’s guardian (or guardian’s partner) has an illness or disability that affects their ability to care for the child;
• the child lives in a rural or remote area;
• the work hours of the child’s guardian (or guardian’s partner) are hours when no other approved child care service is available; or
• the child’s guardian (or guardian’s partner) is caring for three or more children who have not yet started school.

In-home care educators receive the same training as family day care educators and are regulated by the Interim Standards for In Home Care.
